Future Sustainable Mining in central Chile 2035
We are currently facilitating a scenario planning process for the Future of Sustainable Mining in central Chile until 2035 for the Chilean Mining Ministry, CORFO (The Chilean Economic Development Agency) and SONAMI (The Chilean Association of Mining Companies) and a broad group of stakeholders (environmental groups, NGO’s, local communities, sociologists and energy experts).
The purpose of the process is to better understand the future by developing different potential scenarios. The scenarios are based upon a consensus dialogue and will be a basis for strategic decisions for the future. This is in line with President Michelle Bachelet’s new development strategy to search for a sustainable economic, social and environmental welfare in Chile.
We have the privilege to facilitate the process, and in July we held the the first workshop in Chile with stakeholders and experts. This was highligted in one of the mayor Chilean newspapers ”El Mercurio”, where they also mentioned our previous similar processes for the Government of Colombia, in Sweden and in Spain and for WWF.
