In the past 10 years the international debate on this topic has changed from a passive perspective to an active approach. Can climate change even be seen as a driver of innovation and product development towards more sustainability? This report takes a look at facts and figures on climate change and tourism, gives examples of climate change driven product development and reports on latest research results in this area. The last chapter presents five possible scenarios for the future – depending on how government will decide to act in terms of regulation/stimulation of behavior and how consumers will decide to act when it comes to paying a higher price/sacrificing convenience to reduce impact on the climate.
