In 1993, Douglass C. North was awarded the Nobel Prize in economic sciences. He received the prize for his groundbreaking research on the role of institutions in the economic growth in Western Europe since the 16th century. Technologies have, for sure, created opportunities for people to solve their needs. People see those needs, and use the opportunities while institutions enhance and limit these opportunities. Today technology continues to create new opportunities in an even higher pace than ever before.
