China 2030 Research and Innovation Landscape

Τhe future of China’s innovation landscape involves a significant level of uncertainty: many of today’s leading innovators may not be around in 10 years and topics that seem significant now may soon be forgotten. Looking towards 2030, understanding the innovation environment, its critical drivers and trends, and its different possible trajectories has never been more critical.

Our Dragon Star Plus report, run concurrently with our HORIZON 2020 partners in the EU and China, represents the outcome of collaborative foresight work. We produced scenarios for the Chinese innovation environment in 2030, with specific focus on the cooperation potential between the EU and China. By analyzing government policy, current industrial capabilities and knowledge ecosystems, and the impact of cultural, creative, and consumer trends on innovation, we strived to find current perspectives that will affect long-term strategies for resilience.
